In motion – the mobile / elevating cab

The hydraulically powered mobile cab can easily be raised and lowered, whether for ease of transportation or ease of entry into the cab.

Intelligent space utilization – side conveyer

Powerful side conveyers allow the windrows to be side shifted during turning. Having the turner to move the windrows greatly reduces material handling costs and the need for additional equipment.

Optimised composting – thanks to fleece winders

Covering windrows with fleece can speed the composting process by helping to maintain higher temperatures. Fleeces are also beneficial for odor reduction. The lengths of fleece are rolled out during the turning process by the cabin controlled winding devices.

Process optimisation – injecting water during turning

Whether for injecting moisture or for the addition of concentrates – the BACKHUS irrigation system ensures the correct amount of moisture is introduced into the windrow.

Radio controlled – the hose reel

The BACKHUS hose reel assures a continuous controlled supply of water to the turner. For ease of operation the hose reel winding and water supply is fully radio controlled.

Reduce dust and noise – enclose it

The emission of dust and noise is greatly reduced by the addition of an enclosure fitted to the discharge side of the turner. This effect can be enhanced by a fine spray of water.

For increased traction – the landfill undercarriage

Greater traction on loose or soft surfaces, and significantly reduced ground pressures thanks to the extra wide undercarriage. Also the larger heavy duty landfill track clearers plow material into the tunnel and guide excess material smoothly away from the turner.

Additional hardening – armored drum tools

Build-up welded throwing tools enhance abrasion resistance. These are especially suitable, if the composting material is abrasive.

Cruise control – BACKHUS Track Control (BTC)

This optional speed control system automatically determines the optimal turner travel speed based on the density of the material to be turned. We call this "reproducible speed". This feature is standard on all BACKHUS 6-series turners.

Maximum power and maximum efficiency – BACKHUS Management System (BMS)

This optional feature continuously monitors the turner’s hydraulic needs and supplies engine power proportionately. This allows the hydraulic systems to provide full power for both rotor and travel, wile the engine may be operating at reduced speed, thus generating considerable fuel savings and reduced emissions.
